A perfect weekend and a new swing set

Thanks in part to Grandma and Grandpa Watczak and in part to Uncle Dave and a lot of hard work from Josh, our backyard looks strikingly different after this weekend!

Our first step was to sod and mulch the area where the old playhouse came down. Uncle Dave and Josh did an amazing amount of work on this and even though the sod doesn't quite blend in yet, it's made a huge difference in the yard already!

Next Grandpa Jeff and Daddy put up Charlie's new swingset! It went up pretty well ... hardly any swearing and very little blood! :)

And is there anything better than a big cardboard box?!?! Grandma and Charlie had LOTS of fun while the swingset was going up playing in the box the swingset came in.

Then it was time for Charlie to check it out!!

Those of you with prior experience in this area can sympathize with the fact that learning that if you push a swing one way, it comes back and hits to you on the head is a tough lesson, learned the hard way after several good bonks!

Ah! Here we go! The fun begins!

Loving the swing! "Wheeeeee!"

And chillin on the bench on the glider is pretty fun, too!

But I can't neglect my "mow-mow". A man has responsibilities, you know!

Oh! Mommy has a camera! Time to ham it up with a wink or two.

Whether he's playing with the "wheeee"'s or the "mow-mow", this is one happy little dude! He woke up this morning at 8 am and right away, while still in his little footed pj's, wanted to "go-go" to the "wheee" and the "mow-mow". The boy knows what he wants, can luckily communicate it, and mommy is so thankful to have such a wonderful backyard set up for the active little Charlie!

I'm helping!

Becky's side of the family was doing some yard work for her mother this weekend and Charlie was a huge help!

I push the wheelbarrow with Uncle Dave

And then I help him bring it back!

I'm a great supervisor!

And then I help clean up.

Thanks for a wonderful Saturday, everyone!

Another big boy step

This was Charlie's first time in his high chair when he was 4 months old. I thought he was so big!

Now he's decided he's too big boy for a high chair. We pulled out the booster seat and now he sits right at the table with his own plate and fork and is very proud of himself.

When did he get so big? I know, though, that I'm going to turn around be wondering how he grew so much bigger than today. I had no idea how fast it would go ... loving (almost) every minute of it!

All boy!

Charlie showed his softer side this weekend when spending time with his cousin Ruub Ruub

And then it was back to being all manly and helping dad with the swing set preparations. dad had his big shovel and charlie had his little blue one and they filled 4 wheelbarrow loads of gravel from where the playhouse used to be.

Which was going well until dad got a little too close to Charlie with a shovel of dirt

But all's well that ends well
We went right back to fillin' in the rabbit holes!

Father and Son time

Charlie and Daddie had a great night discovering the hose tonight!
Thanks for the waterproof boots grandma!

And he's way cute when he tries to wink!

I'm cute and I know it!

So it has been brought to my attention that i have not posted an update on the Charles Monster in awhile. Apologies :)

Charlie has a new cousin! Ruby Claire is beautiful. We went up last weekend to visit her. Charlie calls her "Rube-Rube." When he met her, he gave her his loving "pat-pats" and even put his head down next to hers for a snuggle. He was very gentle (at mommy's insistance), and stroked the top of her little head with one finger to feel her soft, beautiful hair.

Here's a pic of Daddy holding a sweet new baby. I forgot how tiny they are when they are first born!!

She looks so much like her mother!!
But now we're back home and Charlie is helping Mommy around the house. This morning, we "cook-cook"ed banana bread, and Charlie was a BIG help!

So life is pretty good around here. Mommy's pretty tired these days, but it's for a good cause :)
Blessings to all!
